PUL-I-KHUMRI (SW): At least 13 mine workers in Baghlan province have been killed by unknown armed men, local officials have said.
Faiz Mohammad Amiri, chief of the Tala Wa Barfak district, told Salam Watandar a group of armed men attacked a vehicle carrying 23 mine workers in the Anar Dara area on Friday. He added 13 mine workers died on the spot and five other got wounded.
According to the district chief, five other mine workers managed to escape unhurt. The district chief did not say anything about the whereabouts of the mine workers who survived. Amiri, however, said most of the miners killed in this attack were ethnic Hazara, hence pro-Daesh militants might be behind the attack.
So far, no group or individual has taken responsibility for the attack.
