TALUQAN (SW): The directorate of women affairs in Takhar has claimed 12 policewomen have been expelled from duty in the province.
Razm Ara Hawash, head of the directorate of women affairs, informed the perks and privileges of these policewomen have been handed over to policemen instead. She went on to say gender-based discrimination exists in the ranks of police otherwise many women and girls across the province want to enroll.
Meanwhile, Khalil Asir, spokesman for the Afghan National Police (ANP) in Takhar, has acknowledged that the women’s names have been omitted from the ranks of the police simply because these policewomen were not showing up for duty.
However, a policewoman who wished not to be named, asserted that the policewomen are ready to serve, but have been terminated unjustly. As per official formations, there are 38 policewomen enrolled in the ranks of ANP in Takhar.
