ZABUL (SW) – At least 11 Taliban rebels wishing to disrupt electoral process got killed in air raids conducted by the U.S. forces, an official in Zabul claimed on Saturday.
Gul Islam Sayal, spokesman for the provincial governor, informed Salam Watandar the rebels were targeted in Shahr-e-Safa, Shahjoy, Shenkai, Mezani and Nau Bahar districts. He added eight rebels got wounded in these raids.
Meanwhile, the Taliban claimed to have closed down a number of polling stations in diffetrent districts of Zabul, a claim discarded by officials.
