BADGHIS (SW): Health officials in Badghis said over 100,000 residents of three districts are deprived of health services due to shutdown of health centers by Taliban.
Abdul Latif Rustayee, head of Directorate of Public Health in Badghis told Salam Watandar that since ten days, eight health centers have been closed by Taliban in districts of Moqor, Abkamari, and Bala Morghab. According to Mr. Rustayee, these eight health centers have been closed after Hewad organization rejected the demands of Taliban to recruit surgeon doctors, and perform operation procedures, and hire Taliban in these centers.
Hewad organization has the responsibility to provide health services to residents of Badghis based on an agreement with the Ministry of Public Health.
According to the head of Directorate of Public Health in this province, with the closure of these centers, more than 100,000 people in three districts have been lacking health services.
Sharafatudin Majidi, head of governor’s office in Badghis, confirmed the closure of eight health centers and said that these centers are located in the areas under the control of Taliban. According to Mr. Majidi, local elders have been trying to negotiate with Taliban to reopen these centers.
The residents of these three districts where the health centers have been halted told Salam Watandar that if these centers are not reopened, a humanitarian disaster will occur in this province.
