KABUL (SW): Findings of Salam Watandar has revealed that the Koh-e-Alborz Construction Company (KCC) has inflicted a financial loss of some $ 10 million upon the National Union of Afghanistan Workers (NUAW).

Based on a contract, which was signed between the KCC and NUAW in 2010, KCC was supposed to build 4 residential blocks on 10 hectares of land within the NUAW premises but according to Salam Watandar’s findings and claims made by some employees at NUAW, KCC has only built only 50 buildings out of 95 buildings mentioned on the contract.

According to the contract between NUAW and KCC, the residential apartments were supposed to be put at the disposal of NUAW’s employees based on a pre-paid basis but Maroof Qaderi, Head of NUAW said that KCC has only sold 45 apartments to the NUAW. The fate of the remaining apartments, which were due to be given to the NUAW is still unknown.

A number of employees at NUAW told Salam Watandar that despite the fact that they have paid the money in advance but KCC has sold their apartments to outsiders. They said that KCC has sold and dealt over their apartments with several parties.

Maroof Qadiri has said in this regard that KCC has also been involved in building two blocks illegally on the land belonged to NUAW. He further said that KCC claims that it has verbally agreed with Satar Pordili, the former head of NUAW and Toryali the former head of KCC on building the two blocks.

He added that based on an agreement between the former head of KCC and former head of NUAW, 60 apartments built in the two blocks should have also been given to the NUAW, which never happened.

Complaining about a man called Mohammad Daud who allegedly usurped his personnel house, Qadiri said that Daud is a relative of the President Mohammad Ashraf Ghani and has expelled him from his house through his gunmen.

The Ministry of Defense is also said to be afn 10 million indebted to NUAW. Qadiri said that 7 hectares of land at the NUAW was rented to the MoD but it has been 12 years now that the Ministry has not paid the rent.

SalamWatandar wished to have the comments of KCC’s officials but they rejected to be interviewd.
