10 local policemen killed in Badakhshan

FAIZABAD (SW) – Abdullah Naji Nazari, a member of the Badakhshan Provincial Council, told Salam Watandar that a local commander named Mazar and 10 local policemen had been killed in a landmine blast in Khash district of the province.

Sanaullah Rouhani, a spokesman for the Badakhshan Police Command, confirmed the incident, saying that the incident took place at around 1 am on Saturday in the village of Darkhan in Khash district when the police commander and his entourage arrived in the district to support the security forces stationed here. He said the mine was planted by Taliban insurgents.

According to him, clashes broke out between security forces and the Taliban in the Darkhan area of ​​Khash district of Badakhshan province after midnight when the local policemen moved to the area. According to Rouhani, Hamid, the Taliban’s shadow district governor was also killed.

The Taliban have not yet commented.
