LASHKARGAH (SW): A well-placed source in Helmand told Salam Watandar the Afghan Air Force (AAF) targeted security forces in restive Helmand province last evening during the ongoing anti-terrorism operation.

The incident took place in Grishk district’s Adam Khan village.

At least ten soldiers are reported killed and nine others wounded. The source informed among the dead included members of the local ‘Sangoryan’ force backed by the National Directorate of Security (NDS) against the militants. There are also reports about casualties inflicted upon the Afghan Local Police (ALP), but exact figures are not known yet.

Omar Zwak, spokesman for the provincial governor, told Salam Watandar an investigation team has been sent to the area to gather facts about the circumstances.

For the past three days, the security forces are engaged in clean-up operations against the militants in the district’s Zambali, Mir Mandab and Adam Khan villages. Three months ago, up to 20 security personnel got killed in an air raid by the U.S. forces in Grishk district.
