KABUL (SW): Nai-Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan (NAI) in its latest survey has said, out of ten journalists only one has access to information.
Abdul Mujib Khilwatgar, director of NAI, told a press conference on Tuesday here in Kabul that the organization surveyed 180 journalists which comprise only 1.5 per cent of all journalists in the country. Khilwatgar told the presser that the surveyed journalists have experienced different denial reasons by government entities on access to information.
The director of NAI explained that the survey was conducted in one month in 13 provinces. He urged the government to respect the access to information right.
But, Shaw Hussein Murtazawi, the spokesman for the Presidential Palace, objecting on the recent survey by NAI told Salam Watandar that it is not a standard survey. “The government has the political will on access to information. The government has passed the access to information law and the presidential decree”, justified Murtazawi.
