KABUL (SW) – The Independent Election Commission on Wednesday announced delaying the recount drive for the landmark presidential polls.
The commission announced in a statement that the process has been put on halt to address the concerns and agitation by a number of candidates, political parties and civil society organizations. The statement added those polling centers that are open to recount remains immune to this announcement of postponement of the drive.
On Saturday, the IEC announced to recount the more than 8000 suspected polling stations across the country. Some eight presidential candidates opposed the recount process.
