KABUL (SW) – The Stability and Partnership team led by Abdullah Abdullah on Saturday boycotted the recount of votes in the presidential polls.
In a statement issued here, it blamed the Independent Election Commission for going ahead with the recount before completing the sorting of total votes cast. It said that in spite of efforts to negotiate, understand and discussions the IEC has decided to start recounting in the provinces.
It added this move has been made while the issue of void votes is not yet been resolved. It said the Stability and Partnership electoral team will not remain indifferent and calls on the IEC to carry out its legal duties and begin recounting only after it completes the sorting out process.
This comes as the IEC begun packing technical means for recounting and auditing in the presence of local and international observers.
