KABUL (SW) – Sources have told Salam Watandar efforts led by Salahuddin Rabbani are underway to unite Atta Mohammad Noor with the electoral ticket of Abdullah Abdullah.

Well-placed sources told SW that differences are lingering between Noor and presidential candidate Mohammad Haneef Atmar. It is said there is strong possibility that Noor would join Abdullah’s camp.

It is said Atmar was supposed to share his final thoughts with Noor about the proposed post of prime minister till 10:00 pm last night, but there was no communication. The sources added that vice president candidate for Atmar’s team, Yonus Qanoni is out of country, and things would further clear upon his return.

According to the sources, Atiqullah Baryalay, Ismail Khan, Yonus Qanoni, Fawzia Kofi and Bismillah Khan are also likely to part ways with Atmar and join the camps of Abdullah.

We wished to have the views of Atmar’s Peace and Moderation team, but repeated calls were not answered.

The differences in this team emerged when Atmar insisted upon having a strong central government while his proposed deputy Qanoni and teammate Noor wanted establishment of the seat of the premier.
